Types of UPVC Door Handles
It is crucial to select the right replacement upvc handle for your home if your handles made of upvc require replacement. Locksmiths can provide and install high-security uPVC handles that come with additional security features.
The most important measurements you should take are the measurement A (also called PZ) along with the length of the backplate. Make sure to check these measurements to ensure the new uPVC handle will fit.
Lever/Lever
A lever is a rigid bar that is pivotally positioned around a point (known as a Fulcrum). When you apply force towards the end, the fulcrum will tend to rotate in the direction that the force is applied. This motion increases the force and allows you to lift or move things that would otherwise require more force to lift.
The distance between the fulcrum of the lever and the point where you apply force determines the maximum amount of movement. This is called the mechanical advantage. The advantage of mechanical force increases as the lever gets extended. You can determine the mechanical advantage by dividing the distance from the fulcrum to the point at which you're applying the force by the distance between the fulcrum and the point at which you are applying the force. the lever.
Levers can also have a variety of effects based on the way in which forces are applied. For example a lever of class 2 has a tendency to turn in the opposite direction as the force of effort is applied (like a totter-totter). The forces produced by pushing the handle of a front door will result in rotational effects similar to those.
However, levers don't create energy. They simply increase the force you apply by making a small amount effort across a large distance into a greater amount of force that is applied over a smaller distance. This is what enables you to complete more work in a shorter period of time, and it is the reason why levers are frequently used to lift heavy objects or moving large amounts of cargo. This is also the principle behind the levers that are found in many everyday tools like crowbars, fishing rods, hammer claws and even your legs when you sit on the hand brakes of your car.
Lever/Pad
Lever pad handles are a type of door handle made of upvc that has levers on both sides that operate the multipoint lock. They are available in a variety of variations and finishes, and are suitable for a variety of materials including UPVC, Aluminium & Timber doors. They are sold in pairs for the outer and inner door with spindles & screws included. They are available in both hand and unhandled versions to suit different users.
They are commonly used in new builds and can be used to replace the existing upvc doors. The levers are raised to open all the multipoint locks and the key is turned to close or unlock the door. They offer a little more security than the standard lever handles for doors since locking can only be done through the inside with a key.
They are not as secure as a cylinder bolt, but are a reasonable option to provide extra home security. The only downside is that they don't have the same level of security like a cylinder bolt and consequently don't block access to outside in the event that the door has been left open.
The majority of the lever pad upvc door handles that we have in stock are manufactured by the top manufacturers in the industry and are made from high quality components. In general, they come with a manufacturer's warranty.
Typically, these will be designed to be compatible with a 92mm lock, or the replacement version called a Paddock lock. They will have a 92mm centre cylinder on the inside and 62mm on the outside and be fitted with 2 spindle followers. Some come with a backplate, and others can be removed to accommodate different fixing centers.

Lever/Snib
Lever latches are by far the most simple type of door handles. The lever is pushed downwards to activate a simple latch inside the door. It can be locked with a key. Certain lever privacy handles operate on the same principle however with an additional snib, which is similar to the doorknob.
A snib-button can be very useful, especially for homes where it's crucial to ensure privacy or security. You can use the snib button to prevent your partner from entering until they are prepared. This type handle can also be put in for doors in the interior, like those in bedrooms where you wish to restrict outside access.
Snib buttons can cause problems in some cases, especially when you have locks that are old and warped doors. If the snib button was accidentally pressed or by a person who isn't familiar with it, the door could shut and lock you out. You can usually gain entry by knocking the door frame or letterbox. But this isn't a good idea.
If your uPVC has a snib we recommend replacing it with a smart lock from the E-LOK 7 Series. These smart locks can be retrofitted to double turn pull handle kits. They are available with coverplates to hide the holes in the existing ones for an effortless installation. The E-LOK application can be used to open doors using RFID cards or a mechanical key. Passcodes are also available to ensure security and convenience. The system has been tested to 200 000 cycles to ensure long-term durability. The handles themselves are made with a solid metal construction and are BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 for corrosion resistance.
Lever/Moveable Pad
This popular handle design is typically used for front doors. It is advantageous because it has the benefit of preventing the door being opened without a key from the outside when the lock hasn't been deadlocked. This is accomplished by using an external handle that is shaped like a pad that locks into the gap between the handle and lock case.
This type of handle is made for uPVC doors that are fitted with multipoint locks that operate with split spindle operations. This type of operation requires the lever handle as well as the external pad handle to be fitted on the same lock case. This could be a straightforward replacement of the existing uPVC handle, however it may also require a change in the lock case or a new set of handles to handle furniture.
These levers/movable pad handles are suitable for uPVC doors and come with an easy to maintain slide bearing, spring cassettes and fixing lugs included. They feature a euro-style cut out and can be fitted to a variety of uPVC and timber doors.
Lever moveable pads are offered in a variety of finishes and fit many different multipoint locks. They are designed to work with split spindle multipoint locks which have a 92mm cylinder centre and require a special split spindle set that is supplied by the lock manufacturer.
These Hoppe London lever moveable pad handle 77G/3831N/113 is made of cast aluminum with an anodized finish that's corrosion resistant and scratch resistant. They can be used in conjunction with a wide variety of other Hoppe products like patio door handles, french door handles and window handles. They are also fitted with a security escutcheon.
Lever/Moveable Snib
The lever handle is one of the most sought-after kinds of door handles made from upvc and is available in a range of designs. It consists of two inline handles that can be moved and locked with a thumbturn cylinder or the use of a key. A pad handle can be used as an alternative to lever or lever handles. It is comprised of a fixed or moveable pad that can be used to operate the lock. These Fullex handles have a spring-loaded lever pads with snibs that can be triggered to secure the latch.
